Hello There!

My name is Faith and I’m so happy you are here! I’ve been working in clay on and off for several years. My style is earthy and somewhat rustic. I love to hand carve designs, and make my own glazes. I split my time between the Chicago suburbs and Northern Michigan on the edge of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, which influences the colors and design of my work. I create every piece here personally, from start to finish. All pieces are handmade so you will find natural variations.

Pottery by Faith Taco Night
I first started working with clay in my high school ceramics class in the 1990’s. I absolutely loved everything from hand building to sculpting to wheel throwing. I lived in Cincinnati at the time, and one particular project involved researching Rookwood Pottery and designing a pot in that style. I was in heaven.

Once I started college, I was lucky enough to have time in my schedule as a Computer Science major to also take Ceramics. I had favorite days (raku firing!) and less favorite days (critique day). But it was a relaxing creative break from my “regular” classes. I learned a lot from my instructor (who tried to convince me to change my major from Computer Science to Ceramics) - the most important being that the artist is responsible for their journey and what happens to their work.

After college I bought my first pottery wheel and had big ambitions to play with clay while working my full time job and moving around as one does in their 20’s.  This wasn’t super realistic, as I had no where to fire my work. I sold my wheel and life moved on.

After my kids were born, I left the corporate workforce and created a modern-traditional quilt design company, Fresh Lemons Quilts. I loved designing and creating and making other like minded friends. For over a decade, I created quilts and wrote patterns, wrote a book, appeared in several magazines, and co-hosted several annual quilt alongs.

Post-COVID, I decided I wanted to get back to my Ceramics roots. I joined our local pottery studio in town and spent two years getting back in the swing of things, remembering how to create with clay and making so many friends in each session.

Spring 2024, I wrapped up my last session at the community studio and decided to invest in myself at age 46. I set up a home studio with my own kiln this time. And I’ve been creating every minute since. I hope you enjoy these one of a kind pieces that I’ve put my heart into and put out into the world.
